Why Asteral?

Our distinctive approach and expertise allows us to deliver strategic equipment services that deliver significant clinical and financial benefits.

Vendor independence

As a completely vendor-independent service provider Asteral are able to operate as a true strategic partner. Without any bias to specific equipment or manufacturers we can define and deliver equipment services that are based solely on the customer’s clinical and cost saving needs.

Efficiency savings

Asteral’s services have been designed to unlock cost and service efficiencies, enabling healthcare providers to get more from their equipment investment. We believe that by thinking differently about how assets and services are managed we can help all acute hospitals to generate significant and measurable efficiency savings.

Flexible services

Each Asteral contract is unique, with the scale, scope and term of each agreement defined by our customer’s needs. By offering flexible and transparent services we can ensure that the hospital’s assets support patient services both now and in the future.

Operational efficiency

The provision of the Asteral Response Desk means that our customers have one contact number for all their equipment needs. This removes the burden of managing equipment from clinical staff, providing them with more time to focus on patient care and the reassurance that equipment faults will be resolved quickly and efficiently.

Clinical governance

Ensuring that both clinicians and patients interact with equipment that is fit-for-purpose and safe is critical to everything we do. From evaluation of the existing estate, to on-going maintenance and remarketing of redundant assets at the end of their useful life, we ensure that our equipment and services operate in compliance with all relevant quality standards and regulations.

Smarter procurement

As a significant buyer of medical equipment, consumables and maintenance services for multiple sites, we are able to procure at scale.  Alongside our vendor-independence, this ensures that we purchase assets and services at the best possible price from all major manufacturers. Throughout the term of the arrangement we also capture detailed equipment uptime and performance data so that future procurement decisions are based on patient need and real-world reliability.

Experience

Asteral have over ten years experience and more than £80M of assets under management across many NHS and private hospitals. Through our own experience Asteral possesses vast clinical, technical and commercial expertise in implementing, managing and maintaining productive equipment portfolios as part of an efficient full-service arrangement.

Transfer of risk

By centralising the procurement, management and maintenance of critical medical equipment we are able to convert the uncertainty of current and future equipment costs into a fixed monthly fee that is supported by a service level agreement that ensures optimum equipment performance and availability.
